General Info

Cantina Ventnor sits proudly at 20 High St, Ventnor PO38 1RZ, United Kingdom, and it has quietly built a reputation as a place where relaxed dining meets confident, well-executed food. Walking in, there’s an easygoing atmosphere that feels welcoming without trying too hard, making it a comfortable choice whether you’re popping in for brunch or settling down for a longer dine-in experience.

The menu strikes a thoughtful balance between familiar favourites and dishes that feel carefully considered. The Full English Breakfast is a standout, served generously and cooked with real attention to detail. It’s the kind of plate that feels both comforting and satisfying, ideal for slow mornings or late brunches. Pair it with a smooth latte, and you immediately understand why brunch reservations are recommended-this spot fills up quickly for good reason.

Seafood lovers are well looked after here. The smoked salmon is fresh and clean in flavour, working beautifully as part of a lighter meal or brunch option. Later in the day, the seafood stew takes centre stage, offering rich, warming flavours that feel right at home in a coastal town like Ventnor. Each spoonful reflects a respect for ingredients rather than unnecessary complexity.

Drinks are more than an afterthought. The Bloody Mary has become something of a signature, bold without being overpowering and clearly mixed by someone who knows what they’re doing. It’s the sort of drink that turns a casual meal into a small occasion, especially when enjoyed alongside the restaurant’s relaxed, social vibe.

Cantina Ventnor also makes a point of being inclusive and practical. Vegetarian options are available and thoughtfully integrated into the menu rather than treated as an add-on. The restaurant accepts reservations, which is especially helpful during busy brunch hours, and credit cards are welcome, keeping the experience smooth from start to finish.

Location-wise, being right on High Street makes it easy to find and convenient to fit into a day of exploring Ventnor. Reviews often highlight the consistent food quality and friendly service, and after spending time here, it’s easy to see why. From the atmosphere to the menu choices, everything feels intentional yet unforced, creating a dining experience that feels genuine, relaxed, and reliably enjoyable.

What customers say?

“ Absolutely loved this place! Dita is so friendly, welcoming and fun. We went for dinner and had an amazing evening. Adam is a very talented chef, all our food was perfectly presented and tasted sensational. The food is very good value for money, we just pushed up the bill with cocktails and wine! It was so good, we want back for brunch the next day ”

“ We headed here for brunch whilst staying in Ventnor and loved it so much we went back again the following day. Cantina is a lovely little restaurant, with a rustic but trendy decor and super friendly staff. We were greeted with a huge smile on both occasion's and served very quickly. The food was absolutely delicious and definitely the best veggie full english I’ve ever had. I opted for the banana bread french toast the next day, which was incredible and like nothing I’ve ever had before. Wish I lived closer so I could visit more often! ”

“ We dropped in on this lovely cosy cafe in Ventnor for brunch and to warm up after a chilly dip off the beach. Wonderful warm welcome for us and our doggo, who enjoyed a fuss and a treat. The food was absolutely delicious - I had the veggie breakfast with all the elements working really well together. Smoky beans, juicy soft cherry tomatoes, toasted halloumi - yum. Lots for veggies and non veggies alike on the innovative menu. Recommended. ”

“ Needed somewhere to go for lunch after visiting my mother in her nursing home in Ventor. Walked to Ventnor High Street where we found the Cantina. Excellent food incredibly friendly service in a cozy atmosphere. Prices were a little above normal but well worth it. ”

“ I came here with my sister for an 'end of holiday' brunch & we couldn't have left happier & with full tummies! The brilliant front of house lady, Dita, was so welcoming & full of cheer. The food was extraordinary & beautifully presented! Full of flavour & made with love!! They had a huge variety of vegetarian options, which we were thrilled about! Even my sister's dog Gino, was given some treats & attention from the staff! Would highly recommend!!! ”

“ Cantina is hands down my favourite spot for breakfast on the Isle of Wight, and honestly, it serves the best Full English I’ve ever had—on or off the island. Every visit feels like a treat. The quality of the ingredients is top-tier, everything cooked to perfection and it always hits the spot. We always make sure to visit multiple times when we are on the island What makes the experience even better is the woman who always runs the front. She’s warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind, adding a personal touch you just don’t find often these days. Even when it’s busy, she keeps things moving with a smile and calm energy that sets the tone for a great start to the day. If you’re on the island and love a proper breakfast, Cantina is a must. It’s everything a good café should be: consistent, friendly, and unforgettable. ”

“ What an amazing find. This is why it pays to explore more your area and not settle as there are hidden gems out there!! Found the Cantina by pure chance. Managed to get an early table (thanks for fitting us in!), a large one just for 2, right in the window. Cocktails to die for (and she came back and topped us up as there was some left in the shaker), shared hummus, Kathryn had chicken and I had beef rib. Hints of fennel, the sauce was amazing, flavours layered as you dive in! Tiramisu to finish. Reasonably priced and definitely worth a visit. ”
